Corpses rot in the streets

24 million people in Myanmar are suffering from the effects of Cyclone "Nargis", at least one million people are homeless. Catastrophic conditions in the Irawadi River Delta. Many people died, their corpses rot in the streets.

Million people lost their gods by the Hurrican Disaster im Birma ( Myanmar ). "Million of people are homeless, reported Andrew Kirkwood from the organization Save the Children, by telephone from Rangoon. Save the Children is one of the few organizations that the military regime alowed to stay. Kirkwood complained about the lack of cooperation of the junta. Although urgently supplies at auxiliary workers and assistance are needed, the aides continued to wait in Bangkok for their visas

Kirkwood reported catastrophic conditions particularly in the Irawadi River Delta, the worst-affected region. In one of the most remote places his team had seen thousands of deaths - "mountains of corpses" on the streets rotted. Were also worrying reports from Pyinkaya, one counted 150,000 inhabitants, barely accessible location in the southwest of the delta. There was as yet no help arrived, the dying were themselves.

India is booming and hungry at the same time

The Indian Tycoon Mukesh Ambani gave his wife to the birthday a multistoried building - with games-floors for the children and a five-floor garage. The Indians are starving in the villages and everything they want is a pot of lentils, bread and water, clean drinking water.

"Madam, it's all soo expensive," wailed Jessy, the small, dark-skinned housekeeper every second day, "one liter of oil, cheapest corn, now costs 114 rupees (about 1, 90 euros), last month there were still 97 rupees". The people have a fear of inflation. The poor people need to save, save, save, the belt is still close .

The price for the kilo of rice has risen by fifty percent. Onions and bananas are much more expensive than in winter. "How should a family with two U.S. dollars daily income just to pay this all ?", says a graceful self-conscious customer next to me in turquoise sari, and she goes without fruits.
